Brownfield Redevelopment Program
Main Content
There are an estimated 8,000 brownfields across the state. They include sites that are abandoned or underutilized such as old gas stations, mine-scarred lands, factories, schools, and hospitals.
The Department for Environmental Protection provides programs and services to help with the reuse and development of these properties. Program employees work hand in hand to provide expert guidance ranging from grant writing and funding source help to technical and site management assistance and liability protection for qualifying entities.
